Peruvian filmmaker and alumnus of La Fémis - Université d'été, Berlinale Talents, Oberhausen Seminar, and Talents Buenos Aires. His passion as a filmmaker arose from the memories of his family, his identity as a member of the LGBTIQ+ community, and social justice. Since making films, Carlos has developed an interest in recreating different worlds within absence and faith.

His recent fiction short film The Distance of Time has been selected in festivals such as the 68° Oberhausen ISFF, 45° Mill Valley, 29° Raindance, 40° Uruguay IFF, 20° Bogoshorts, and 19° OUTFEST Perú, among others. His second fiction short, The Weight of Air (Greek Film Center Award - 45° Drama ISFF), won the Peruvian National Fund for Short Films and is currently in pre-production. He also directed La langue inconnue du Soleil couchant in France. He’s currently developing his first hybrid feature film entitled The Scent of Walls, developed with the support of Cine Qua Non Lab and Locarno Open Doors Producer's Lab.

In 2023, he won the Mastercard Enablement Program Fellowship for the project TranStories at the 73° Berlin Film Festival. This is a one-of-a-kind creative documentary lab for the Peruvian trans community so they can tell their stories using their own voices, bodies and thoughts without any kind of discrimination or male gaze over them.

In 2021, he studied for a Project Management diploma at Cordoba University (Argentina). In 2019, he published “The borders of transsexuality in Latin American cinema,” an article about the representation of trans women in six Latin-American films. For seven consecutive years, Carlos worked collaboratively in the production field of Song Without a Name by Melina León (51° Quinzaine des Réalisateurs).
